Privacy Policy

Hormuz Hopper

Effective Date: September 6, 2026

Hormuz Hopper is a free, fictional retro arcade parody that runs entirely in your browser. This Privacy Policy describes how the web version handles information.

1. Information Collection and Use

Unless you choose to join the optional daily leaderboard described in section 3, Hormuz Hopper does not collect, track, store, transmit, or share any personal information, device identifiers, location data, or usage analytics. If you do join, section 3 describes exactly what is sent and how to stop it.

2. Local Game Storage

Your best score, sound preferences, and selected pilot are stored locally on your device only. Hormuz Hopper saves this data using browser local storage under the keys flutter.best_score, hormuz_best_score, best_score, hh_save_v1, flutter.lb_name, and flutter.lb_id (plus related settings keys), a first-party cookie named hh_best, which stores only your best score and lasts up to two years so your score survives browser storage resets, and the hh_save cookie (first-party, 2-year, Secure, SameSite=Lax) holding lifetime run statistics per pilot, the chosen vehicle, and earned medals. If you join the daily leaderboard, two further local storage entries hold your call sign and a random browser identifier. Apart from the leaderboard submissions described in section 3, this data is never transmitted to any server or cloud database; it stays on your device.

Note: some browsers (notably Safari) limit how long websites can store local data, so saved scores on those browsers may reset sooner.

3. Daily Leaderboard (Optional)

Joining the daily leaderboard is entirely optional. If you choose to join by entering a call sign, your call sign, score, collected barrels, dodged missiles, selected pilot, and a random browser identifier are sent to our leaderboard server. Call signs and scores are displayed publicly on that day's board. Leaderboard entries expire after 40 days. Your request IP address is used only for a per-day rate-limit counter that expires within 24 hours. No account, no email address, and no third-party services are involved. You can stop future submissions at any time via Settings > Leave Board, which removes your call sign and player identifier from this browser. Scores are reported by your browser and the server applies only basic plausibility checks, so the board is a bit of fun and is not protected against a determined cheater.

4. Advertising and Third-Party Services

This web version does not display advertisements and loads no advertising scripts. It integrates no behavioral advertising or cross-site tracking services. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes requests as our hosting provider, and the fonts used for missing characters may be fetched from Google's font service. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and page-load speed for us: it sets no cookies, does not track you across other websites, and collects no personal data.

5. Children's Privacy

Hormuz Hopper is not directed at children and asks for no personal details. If you join the optional daily leaderboard, please pick a call sign that does not identify you: call signs are shown publicly. Do not join if you would rather share nothing at all.
